Frequently asked Questions

Do you have to be legally married to you partner to undergo IVF treatment?

A couple does not legally have to be married to each other, as long as they are not married to someone else then it is fine to proceed with IVF treatment.

Is it possible to begin the treatment in my country and travel at a later date?

Yes it is, as long as you have a reliable scanning unit who can also provide you with a written report and pictures, then this will not be an issue for us.

How do I go about having my test?

When contacting us, we will state which tests are required and we will email you a list of centres that can help. You can choose the centre closest to you or one that you find more cost effective.

Where can I get the medication from?

We can provide a prescription for the medication and if you are unable to buy these in your country via your own doctor then we can send the prescription to an online pharmacy.

The online pharmacy are located in the UK and will convert the prescription to a UK prescription and then will ship the medication to your home address (please be aware that when sending medication outside of the UK, syringes/needles etc. will not be enclosed)

Who will monitor me during my treatment?

You will have contact with Doctors and myself, we will both be with you at each stage and guide you with what to do at each stage.

Can you help with transportation and accommodation options?

Yes we will be more than happy to take the added stress and arrange for your airport collection and our co-ordinator can contact you with reasonable packets for hotel selections also.

How long do I need to be in North Cyprus for Egg Donation treatment?

If you are looking to start in your own country then you will only need to be in North Cyprus for 7 nights. We will plan your treatment around the dates in which you can travel.

How long will I need to stay in North Cyprus for Embryo Donation treatment?

Couples or single ladies looking to travel for Embryo Donation, have two options:
Beginning treatment in their own country and staying for 7 nights or:
Beginning treatment stage and Carrying out the required tests in their own country and then travelling to Cyprus for two days for the transfer only.

How long will I need to stay for IVF treatment (same for Sperm Donation and PGD treatment also)?

Treatment will begin in your own country, with the tests carried out on the dates specified by Doctor. We would recommend you be here on day 6 of the stimulation for your first scan and look to be in Cyprus for 12 nights. If you are unable to spend 12 nights here in Cyprus, we can discuss to minimising your time here, only if you have a reliable scanning unit to help and provide you with full reports and pictures to send to Doctor for evaluating.

How long to I need to stay in North Cyprus for aCGH/NGS treatment?

Treatment will begin in your own country, with the tests carried out on the dates specified by Doctor. We would recommend you be here on day 6 of the stimulation for your first scan and look to be in Cyprus for 7 nights. If you are unable to spend 7 nights here in Cyprus, we can discuss to minimising your time here, only if you have a reliable scanning unit to help and provide you with full reports and pictures to send to Doctor for evaluating.

How long will I need to stay in North Cyprus for Egg Freezing Treatment?

Treatment will begin in your own country, with the tests carried out on the dates specified by Doctor. We would recommend you be here on day 6 of the stimulation for your first scan and look to be in Cyprus for 7 nights. If you are unable to spend 7 nights here in Cyprus, we can discuss to minimising your time here, only if you have a reliable scanning unit to help and provide you with full reports and pictures to send to Doctor for evaluating.

Who will match the donor to me?

Donor matching is made by matching your main characteristics and also blood group, we also ask for a photograph of yourself to help with the donor match and our donor Co ordinator will be able to match a donor as best as possible for you.

Will the child look like me after an Egg/Sperm Donation cycle?

We make sure that egg donors share as many similar physical characteristics with you as possible, so that the child will have the chance to resemble you in spite of not sharing your DNA with him or her, and the same applies in cases where donor sperm is used. If the baby is conceived using your partner’s or husband’s sperm, then he or she will resemble him also.

Is there a risk that my Eggs, Sperm or Embryos will be mixed?

There may be more than one patient on the same day in the IVF laboratory. In order to avoid any confusion, two different patients’ operations are not performed in the same environment. A barcoding system is in place and each sample, embryo etc. is labelled accordingly. We are regularly audited by the Ministry of Health.

Are you governed by an International body?

We are regulated firstly by the Ministry of Health in Northern Cyprus and we also have ISO certification.

ISO 9001 Certified for us means that met the requirements in ISO9001. It defines an ISO 9000 Quality Management System (QMS). ISO 9001:2008 and we are audited on a yearly basis to make sure we meet the ISO requirements.

We also follow the HFEA guidelines and monitor the changes and most importantly apply them to our structure.

The ESHRE conferences are also attended on a yearly basis and our Senior embryologist is also certified by ESHRE.

Which airport can we travel intro?

You have an option of two airports, Ercan in North Cyprus or Larnaca in South Cyprus. Ercan is a 20 minute drive from Nicosia and Larnaca is an hour drive.

For couples wishing to travel via Larnaca, please be aware that you will both need a valid European passport or a passport which allows you to travel to South Cyprus and then you will be able to show your passports at the border crossing into North Cyprus, it is very straight forward.

When travelling to Ercan you again will need a valid European passport or a passport that allows you to travel to Cyprus, if you hold a Nigerian or Armenian passport then you will have to apply for a visa to travel to North Cyprus 2 weeks prior to flying.

Is Cyprus an island in conflict and will we be safe?

Cyprus is a beautiful holiday Island and although there has been a division which resulted in the North and South to be divided, there is no unrest and very safe. Both sides of the Island have beautiful beaches and a lot of historical sites to take in when here.

Where is the Hospital located?

The Hospital is located in Lefkoşa/ Nicosia North Cyprus and is off the Gönyeli roundabout when driving from Girne/ Kyrenia. Directions or a Whatsapp pinpoint will be sent to avoid confusion or you can visit the website for the location

Where will it be best to stay?

You can stay in Lefkoşa/Nicosia as the hotels are anywhere form a 5-15 minute drive from the Hospital. However if you are looking to use your time more as a holiday in line with your treatment then we would recommend for you to stay in Girne/Kyrenia as this is a 20 minute drive from Lefkoşa/Nicosia. Girne/Kyrenia is a city located by the sea and lovely holiday destination. Of course if there is a different area of the Island you wish to stay in then this is possible, please be aware that driving to the Hospital may take a minimum of 45 minutes.

Am I able to hire a car and is it safe to drive?

Hiring a car is very straight forward and all you need is a valid European driver’s licence. However when hiring a car from South Cyprus, please check with the hire company if they allow the car to cross the border, you will also need to purchase extra insurance at any border to make sure you are insured in North Cyprus also.

When hiring a car in North Cyprus again you will need a valid European passport but please be aware that hire cars from the North are not allowed to cross over the border to the South.

The roads here in Cyprus (North and South) are the same as in the UK and follow the same driving rules, so the cars are mainly right hand drive and like in the UK we drive on the left hand side of the road.
